We are getting close to the end of the companies I visited during this year’s NAMM show, and I’ve been saving some of my favorites for last. Today I talk more about oscillators, semi-modulars, sequencers,, and some modules we saw last year but which are getting much closer to their final. Steady State Fate One of my favorite oscillators at the show was definitely the Zero Point ($400-425). The “Zero Point” in the name means it supports through-zero (as well was ), where the can turn around and go backwards as you ask it to dip into “negative” frequencies. The “Point” part of the name means you can choose and even modulate where in the waveform it turns around, creating different timbres as a result. And that’s just one of the Zero Point Oscillator’s sound animation features: For example, you can choose two different waveshapes (including crossfading or “scanning” between adjacent waves), and then Morph between those. The wave can also be set so different edges move when modulated, which creates a deeper sound.
